Don’t Ignore the Importance of The NHS & Standardised Healthcare

The slow privatisation of the NHS will do more harm than good in the future years to come

I have always been a strong supporter of standardised healthcare. It was shocking for me to learn how different countries deal with their healthcare system. Most shocking of all is the American healthcare system and how expensive everything is.

From ambulances to contraception, everything is way too expensive for me to believe. When I met an exchange student from Arizona in university, he told me about the stark difference between American healthcare and the education system is in the UK.

To this day, when I meet Americans abroad, they joke about standardise healthcare and the waiting time for procedures and appointments can take up to 6 months — most of which are untrue. There are plenty of countries that have standardised healthcare and it remains successful due to the support it has received through its government.

However, the NHS has been struggling for the past few years. It’s no secret that the Tories have been pushing for the privatisation of healthcare. Under the power of the Tories, the NHS almost drowned. Nurses and doctors were horrendously underpaid to the point where they were eating at food banks…
